The Organization:
Our client is a large private hospital in the state of Kuwait. Their dedication towards development and growth is reflected in the ongoing expansion. Care is provided through a competent and diverse team of health care professionals in multiple departments, utilizing the latest technology and applying evidence-based practices. They are hiring a Breastfeeding Educator.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•Identifies learning needs of antenatal and postnatal patient population and health care team through recognized assessment method and sets learning objectives as required;
•Performs individualized assessment to identify educational needs, learning style, barriers, key learner and recognize subtle cues to anticipate potential problems;
•Analyzes the assessment data, develop health education plan, set priorities, involve patient, significant others and multidisciplinary team in implementation when appropriate;
•Assesses, plans and educates the target patient and family on initiation and continuation of breastfeeding as infant feeding such as importance of exclusive breastfeeding and its benefit, hazards of artificial feeding, breast pump usage and milk storage to enhance breastfeeding practices;
•Educates postnatal patients and family on post-partum care, pain management, breast feeding technique, position and benefits, importance of ambulation, nutritional needs during lactation, infection control measures, newborn care and safety, evaluates outcome of education and modified as required;
•Supports and assists postnatal patients in initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, and use scientific tool to evaluate latching and implement individualized intervention to achieve successful breastfeeding experience;
•Participates in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating development of standards, guidelines and/or policies pertaining to breastfeeding and infant feeding;
•Maintains supplies and equipment needed for the breastfeeding education and operates required equipment safely;
•Utilizes information from individual patients to identify broader implications for promoting breast feeding practices within the community;

Skills & Competencies:
•Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic
•Good computer skills (mainly Microsoft Office)
•Good interpersonal and communication skills
•Knowledge of Lactation processes, Postnatal and new born care and management.
•Skills in counseling and application of adult education principles

Education & Qualifications:
•Diploma or Bachelor in Nursing
•3 – 8 years related experience
•Knowledge: Maternal & Child Health
