Our client is part of the Logistics Division of a major Middle East Group and a provider of transport and logistics solutions and services within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East.
In addition to general cargo haulage services they operate storage and consolidation services and they specialise in moving land based drilling rigs across sites and international boundaries. They routinely provide both contractual and ad-hoc support to the majority of upstream operators in Oman and well as most of the oilfield services companies.
Reporting into the Contract Manager, the successful candidate will provide route direction, route clearance checks and monitoring of traffic flows.
You will assist in road traffic incidents.
You will complete accident investigations and reports.
You will monitor and manage the workload of Road Safety Teams.
You will engage support of additional traffic teams from within the Group on an ad hoc basis to suit customer requirements.
You will monitor traffic control during peak periods and traffic control during incidents.
You will carry out speed checks on any designated company roads, setting up random vehicle inspection check points.
You will provide escort duties during the movement of out of gauge loads and escort of specific vehicles such as vehicles carrying priority cargo.
You will have authority to stop and inspect any vehicle engaged on the contract to check
roadworthiness and driver competency.
You will need to conduct road risk assessments
The role is primarily based at Khazzan and will involve travelling throughout the Oman interior. When not at work you will need to be based in the capital, Muscat.
Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this unique challenge, you will be an accomplished road safety professional with your experience ideally gained in the Armed Forces, Military Police or civilian Police.
Ideally your road safety knowledge will be supported by a strong transport and a health and safety background.
Your work experience should ideally be supported by a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject, such as NVQ Level 4 in Health and Safety Enforcement, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
You should have in – depth knowledge of relevant road safety legislation and legal procedures and have experience of enforcing road safety legislation, conducting inspections and auditing to determine compliance with legislative requirements.
You will have experience of investigating traffic related accidents.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally you should possess a Full Drivers Licence and be PC literate.
