• To be involved with detailed audits of technical areas such as maintenance, new build, project lifecycle including designing, project planning, project control and monitoring and other support functions.• To support other members of the internal audit team in technical and project management areas for more effective, efficient and focused audits of operation/support functions.• This role will also entail developing project plans, work programs, evaluating system controls, documenting results, making recommendations, and communicating information to auditees.• Research, plan and perform individual audit assignments, in a timely manner, with appropriate documentation of procedures performed and results obtained. There will be involvement in multiple projects at any given time.• Maintain favorable working relationship with audit customers and outside personnel.• Develop audit findings that are relevant, complete and accurate for complex audit assignments. Obtain management agreement on disposition.• Develop audit reports and memorandums to clearly and accurately reflect the audit work performed, the results found and appropriate recommendations in the format prescribed by the Department. Reports and memorandums will often be unique.• Keep informed of developments in the audit profession and continue to develop professionally to contribute to department expertise. • Apply skills, including audit software capabilities, to the performance of key job responsibilities. • Assist in training and development of other staff auditors.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Commerce or equivalent professional qualification and experience is preferred.
Function specific experience
• Basic Experience in Internal Audit roles
Industry related experience
• Knowledge of Dredging/Civil Marine industry preferable
