Job Description

1.1 Director of Nursing is responsible and accountable for the standard of nursing care in the hospital in collaboration with other hospital leaders.

1.2 Is responsible to oversee daily Nursing Operational activities to ensure that all patients are receiving the expected Nursing care guided by JCIA/CBAHI standards.

4.0 Duties and Responsibilities:

4.1 Responsible for managing and leading nursing services in the hospital.

- Develops and review nursing organizational chart

- Represents the Nursing staff in all hospital activities

- Participates in decision making processes including planning and budgeting.

- Participates and represents Nursing in hospital committees as needed.

o Quality improvement

o Infection control

o Pharmacy and therapeutics

- Oversees and assures that committee’s recommendations are implemented at the Nursing level.

- and patient’s medical record.

4.2 Ensures the competency of the nursing staff.

- Participates in the recruitment and hiring process of qualified staff.

- Monitors the performance of the nursing staff and assures their ongoing competency.

o Supervises competency and performance assessment.

o Conducts visit/ round to the nursing unit.

o Obtains feedback of patient/ family and other department staff.

4.3 Ensures sufficient nurses are available to meet the needs of patients.

- Develops a staffing plan that maintain as adequate staffing level in all nursing units.

- Explores and identifies staff abilities and potentials to ensure proper staff allocation/ assignments.

- Ensure the appropriateness of work schedules to maintain adequate number of staff on every shift.

- Ensures that nurses assigned out of their normal working area have the required competency for safe and effective patient care.

- Maintains a list of cross-trained nurses and makes it available for all nursing units.

4.4 Ensures the implementation and compliance to JCIA and CBAHI requirements/ standards.

- Achieving nursing related performance indicators/ KPI and objectives.

- Monitoring and ensuring achieving departmental quality indicators.

- Ensuring staff awareness of JCIA/ CBAHI standards.

- Monitoring all performance auditing process.

- Supervise and oversee orientation and training activities.

4.5 Ensures staff satisfaction and retention.

- Interacts and meets nursing staff at all position level.

- Be available to all staff as they need and plays positive mentor.

- Identifies and anticipates staff problems/ challenges and acts accordingly.

- Maintain acceptable rate of staff retention and turn over as per international figure.

- Establishes and implements clear staff development program.

- Plays a role of staff advocate.

4.6 Promotes the cost effective approach in providing nursing services without compromising the quality.

4.7 Handles patient complaint and incidents involving nursing staff.

4.8 Maintains professional and positive relationship with nursing staff and other staff.

4.9 Prepares the required reports and maintains proper records.

4.10 Conducts weekly/ monthly nursing administration meetings.

4.11 Communicates and reports with General Director all significant data on the right time.

4.12 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/ her knowledge.

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Educational/ Professional Qualification:

- Bachelor in Nursing or equivalent

- Valid license in the country of origin

- Valid Saudi Council registration

- BLS provider Certification

6.0 Required Professional Experience:

- 15 years as minimum in general hospital

- At least 10 years in similar position/ senior Nursing management and leadership.

- Knowledge of JCIA Standards and nursing practice.

- Speaking excellent English.

Desired Candidate

· The maximum age should not exceed 50 years and should not be less than 38

· Should have hands on experience in a good acute hospital with 300 beds.

· western Origin like USA, UK, IRELAND, NEW ZEALAND, GERMANY, FRANCE, AUSTRALIA, SWITZERLAND, BELGIUM, FINLAND, ICELAND, POLAND etc. all western Europe, please don’t include countries like Spain, Greece, Czech, Slovak, Portugal, Romania, Serbia (all eastern Europe)

· Should have worked as Director of Nursing for the past 5 years in a hospital.

· The job title should be Director of Nursing only.

· Total experience 15 years and above.

The maximum age should not exceed 50 years and should not be less than 38
