The role is responsible for engaging with projects to create technical risk assessments, identifying the detailed component designs that will be necessary to fulfil the project’s objectives. In doing so, the role holder is responsible for ensuring that the component level changes proposed by the individual design domains form a coherent whole that most effectively meets the business need. These activities will inform the assessment of project business cases and will underpin planning, scheduling and scope definitions. As well as a project focused work, the role has an enduring responsibility for maintaining the end-to-end service designs, or current state repositories, that explain the operation of each of our services. The documentation provided thus acts as a framework for the more detailed activities undertaken by the individual teams.
-Advise on the viability of the end-to-end solution, taking into account other programs of work and the complexities inherent in it.
Create and maintain a robust project focused design documentation that:
-Encapsulates the technical definition of the solution in a manner that can be used to drive coherent action across design teams;
-Clearly defines the technical interfaces/protocols to be exposed between solutions being developed by each engaged design community
-Identifies dependencies with other programs of work that will impact the delivery of an individual project; and
-Is a key input to corporate governance processes for assessing the feasibility and risks of projects.
Create and maintain a robust and enduring current state documentation that:
-Defines, in an end-to-end fashion, how user services draw upon the Bank’s network and IT capabilities. That is, documentation that maps the services we offer to the technologies they rely on.
-Reflects all changes to service definitions, or component use, that have been brought about by projects.
-Is consistent with, and forms a hub that links, strategic technology evolution, capacity planning and other related forward-looking information.
