Job SummaryThe Associate, Mechanical Engineering will serve as a fully capable professional who leads a design team and is responsible for the management of large-scale projects. The Associate contributes to the development of the company by supporting the senior management team in the progressive evolution of AECOM's design philosophy, research activities and technical development.
Responsibilities:
Serves as a fully capable professional within a discipline
Ensures, directly and through subordinates, that projects are completed on time and meet all requirements of the Design Brief
Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi-disciplinary coordination of the design documentation prepared by the assigned team
Ensures the quality of technical work produced by team meets AECOM's Technical Excellence standards
Responsible for mechanical (HVAC) Resource planning for the project and reporting project needs to senior team members
Applies advanced knowledge to develop design procedures and tools to facilitate the completion of high quality, cost effective projects
Routinely interacts with clients, contractors, local authority representatives and others using skills of persuasion and negotiation to resolve critical issues
Responsible for key design input at early design phases and for general design leadership during the course of the project
Promotes teamwork within a multi-disciplinary team (including the GDC), maintaining positive moral and instilling a creative culture within the practice
Understands and implements project management principles and able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to budget
Contribute, from the onset of a project, to the design of innovative and progressive design solutions that reconcile client's goals and priorities while fostering opportunities for design excellence
Make appropriate value judgements with respect to corrective work that supports the design concept and performance goals of the project
To perform and/or direct material and building system research and participate in the co-ordination and preparation of project specifications
Assists with steering and influencing the design philosophy and approach of the company through support of the Directors
Manage interface between Design Team / Site Team ensuring proper design support is provided in a timely manner
Ensuring Safety in Design principles are applied throughout all design stages of a project
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 15 years post-graduate experience
Proven related Mechanical (HVAC) design experience
Experience of working on large scale projects including site experience
Building engineering design background with ME experience
Experience with renowned engineering consultancy
Preferred Qualifications
BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Building Engineering.
International Accreditation preferred (MCIBSE, MASHRAE or equivalent).
