Job summary
AWS is seeking a world class senior Business Development professional to help us establish AWS as the Energy market leader for energy data platforms.

As a specialist business development representative for this fast growing, exciting space you will have the opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of emerging open-source data interoperability and connectivity technologies that will have a significant impact on our customer's digital strategy.

Your responsibilities will include building and managing an opportunity pipeline focused on driving revenue, adoption, and market penetration of upstream data platforms in emerging markets including the APAC region.

The holder of this business development leadership role will own providing a global business and sales management efforts that will include teaming with AWS executives, sales representatives, solutions architects, business developers and partners.

You will build and maintain key relationships, develop and manage opportunities, monitor deployment projects and engage virtual resources.

You will define a CXO relationship strategy for data platforms within and across multiple accounts, including engaging with AWS senior leadership team for executive sponsorships, coordinating executive business reviews, and maintaining customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess a technical understanding that enables them to easily interact with developers and technical architects.

You have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus.

You have a passion for helping customers eliminate proprietary data silos, automate data collection and curation and use ML/AI to unlock innovation.

The Enterprise business development professional is responsible for teaming with business and IT organizations to build strategic relationships across multiple accounts, articulating a clear vision for implementations of upstream data platforms and building enthusiasm for data democratization and cross-industry digital collaboration.

You are responsible for implementing a broad strategy for earning customer trust and service adoption in this space. You will work with all appropriate AWS teams including dotted line responsibility for downstream sales and technical resources that may be geographically distributed, as well as Business Development teams, to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive the adoption of energy data platforms.

You will build and scale sales best practices and accelerate go-to-market initiatives across enterprise sales teams

Development of formal case studies and other forms of references highlighting activity and workloads running on AWS is core to the role.

Having familiarity in ecosystem selling, where customers, vendors, academia and government agencies across and beyond the E&P industry promote their digital solution collaboration is a plus.

A day in the life
AWS Energy is seeking a highly motivated Global Data Platform Business Development lead for our emerging markets including the APAC region and energy transition customers in EMEA.

The role can be virtual but up to 50% travel may be required for customer engagements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • The candidate must have experience working with large global Energy organizations as a Sales, Business Development, or Account, Relationship Manager and leader.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, analytical and presentation skills are required.
  • Candidate must possess demonstrated decision making, problem solving, and negotiating skills.
  • A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sales management experience and/or business development experience as an account manager for a global federated enterprise working with multiple business units and influencing governance and policy is a plus.
  • A BA or BS degree in computer science, engineering, business, marketing, applied sciences or related field (MBA preferred) and a minimum of 10+ years of enterprise selling experience in large global accounts.
  • Other experiences to include: experience in large complex deal negotiations with a successful track record ability to navigate across AWS and the customer in a trusted advisor/consultative approach and, establishing credibility quickly with senior level executives across the organizations.
  • Experience in designing and/or selling Open Source Database Technology Platforms such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and understanding of SQL or other database engines is a plus.
  • Experience with migrating database environments from one platform to another or technical knowledge of relevant Application/Database re-platforming (Commercial to Open Source Engines) would be a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with subsurface or energy data platform implementation and development, and concepts of training, and deploying ML models and apps.
  • Experience with on premise and/or in the cloud multi-disciplinary, multi-vendor data management solutions spanning the subsurface or energy value chain.
