Job Description

Job Title : CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
Principal Responsibilities:
The chief Accountant is in-charge of all accounting activities and responsible for preparing the financial performance reports, assisting departments with annual budgets and forecasting, ensuring internal controls within the Accounts department and preparation of all tax related works. Further, to ensure the preparation and recording of all the assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing the account information. Maintains proper checks and balances on all GL accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling, and resolving any discrepancies on all transactions.

1. GENERAL ACCOUNTING
Liaising with Banks and to maintain a good relationship with the Bank RMs assigned to the Company, to ensure support on all day-to-day banking activities.
Responsible for financial audits and statutory compliances.
Handle the full spectrum of financial and cost accounting role including the AR, AP, GL, forecasting, budgeting, etc.
Responsible for all day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
To be responsible and ensure timely closing of accounts as per the management guidelines in this regard.
Responsible for the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements.
Ensure the cash-flow management by having an efficient management of all payments in line with the approved credit periods.
Review & approve payment vouchers & journal entries.
Perform cash flow forecasting & budgeting.
To be responsible for maintaining the internal control and effective accounting system and policies.
Support the Head of Finance in establishing and maintaining systems for cost-sensitivity analysis and early-warning of cost-overruns
Work consultatively with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives.
To ensure that all entries in relation to the monthly closing of books are passed, viz, for Provisions, Accruals & Prepaid Income/Expenditures.
Ensure that the Bank reconciliations are conducted on a weekly basis.
Generating the MIS Report for the Company.
Prepare Year End Forecasting/ next year Budget.
To Liaise with the Finance department at all the subsidiary companies in having the monthly debit/ credit notes issued and ensuring the monthly reconciliation of SOAs.
To prepare the quarterly VAT reports and ensure that the VAT filing are done promptly on or before the due dates.
Generating the monthly MIS Report and quarterly reports for the Board Presentation.

2. PURCHASING
To review each purchase requirements.
Review of the LPOs prepared before issuing the same and ensuring that the approvals from the concerned HODs are obtained.
Follow up on the LPOs issued with the invoices and ensuring that the job is completed/ delivered before the payment is processed
Getting the invoices approved by each HOD before effecting the payment.
Reviewing the Capex requests.

3. BANKING
Preparation of Weekly Fund position to ensure the financial position at Banks.
Review of the monthly Bank Reconciliation Statements.
Ensure and maintain proper Bank correspondence files for all bank accounts.

4. SALARY PREPRATION & DISBURSEMENT
Review of the Staff Salary Sheet as per the sheets
To upload the approved Salary Sheet for WPS/ Non WPS online transfer and prepare the bank transfers/ Cheques for direct payments.

5. PETTY CASH & PAYMENTS
Maintaining petty cash float for Office Expenses.
Ensure the reimbursement of the petty cash float are in line with the policy.

6. MISCALLANEOUS
Physical verification of fixed assets & Stationery items periodically.
Monthly review of Leave Salary report for each staff.
Monthly review of Staff Gratuity.
Ensure that the Debit Notes & Statement of Accounts are sent to the related parties promptly and on a monthly basis.
To support the Accounts Team in generating all reports and in maintaining all documents, as necessary and ensuring that a Master filing system is in place at the Accounts department.

Education and other skills: Qualified/ Semi-Qualified Chartered Accountant.
Master's degree in commerce & Accounting.
