Job Description :
A worldwide freight forwardingcompany requires a General Manager to be based in Beirut.
Department: Top Management
Reports To: Managing Director
Key responsibilities:
To develop, maintain and oversee all aspects of company operations and administration.
To develop and implement strategic plans for increasing of business revenue streams
To ensure the company consistently conforms to all legal requirements and obligations.
Work closely with finance department to develop budget and work forecasts.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To develop and implement new strategies to increase business revenue in the road transport, freight and logistics sectors.
To develop the budget, formulate business objectives and ensure the company develops and functions accordingly.
To develop an effective strategic business plan with the goal of improving the company profitability.
To regularly liaise with Finance Manager to ensure that outstanding payments are collected from customers.
To assist transport division staff to meet customer requirements successfully.
To actively promote the services of the company (transportation including freight forwarding services and custom clearance services) in local and international markets.
To maintain and improve the Quality, Health & Safety and Environment Policy for the company.
To develop and define company organizational chart and channels of communication and reporting.
To accurately identify the resources and infrastructure required to run the operations of the company.
To ensure that all applicable legal requirements are complied.
To ensure that response plan for all potential emergencies are developed and where applicable are demonstrated.
To formulate strategy for proper running of business with minimum problems.
To finalize the resource requirement for an activity / process.
To manage financial and physical resources.
To look after and monitor the activities / processes of department heads and other key employees.
Accountabilities:
To achieve the business targets, health & safety and environment objectives
To ensure that jobs (customer orders) are completed on time and in line with company policies and objectives.
To take financial decisions and to sign the contracts.
Develop, maintain and improve business relationships with the key existing and new customers.
Streamline, develop and maintain profitability of the company.
To allocate resources to manage operations
Requirements:
Minimum degree in business administration, marketing or logistics.
At least fifteen years demonstrable and proven experience in Logistics, freight, project cargo and transportation environment.
Training (Optional): Project cargo transportation, logistics skills, air and ocean freight.
Must be Be an excellent communicator (written and oral) with clients from all levels.
A problem solver, able to think quickly and work to tight timelines when required.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate to staff of all levels.
Possess basic skills in Microsoft office and excel sheets.
