JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Hosts//Hostess/Receptionist
UNIT: Majilis Al Khaleeji
REPORTS TO: Senior Host/Hostess/Receptionist/ Restaurant Manager
LIAISES WITH: All Departments
DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Reception area& assistance to all guests

OBJECTIVE:

Provides efficient assistance to the guests and the service of the restaurant. Ensures that FOH area is clean and set up for service. To optimise guest satisfaction through consistent high operating standards.

OUTLINE OF ROLE & RESPOSIBILITIES:
Main Duties:
Greets and acknowledges guests while smiling and making eye contact.
Recognizes repeat guests while smiling and making eye contact.
Addresses guests by surname while smiling and making eye contact.
Builds a rapport with guests while walking them to their table.
Pulls out chairs and/or tables before guests are seated.
Accommodates guests needs, i.e. wheel chair, restrooms, movement of drinks from one location to another, etc.
Acts as a liaison between management and service staff.
Communicates guest complaints and compliments to management.
Communicates guests needs to staff/management, i.e. celebrating anniversary and/ or birthday, etc.
Invites and welcomes guests back upon completion of their visit.
Alerts the kitchen of business flow, i.e. how many guests will soon be ordering, how many guests are having desert, how many guests are waiting to be seated, etc.
Walks the floor and provides floor updates to management, i.e. how many open tables, open menus, etc.
Ensures that guest seating is rotated between all service stations.
Answers telephone, takes new reservations and maintains current reservations within procedural guidelines.
Must be knowledgeable about the company you work for, i.e. locations, cuisine, etc.
Must be knowledgeable about surroundings, i.e. nearby entertainment, theaters, etc.
Performs all duties in adherence to all company standards.
Must have the ability to provide friendly, courteous and professional service to all internal and external customers/guests, at all times.
Ability to define problems, collect data and notify management when necessary. Ability to successfully re-prioritize tasks in a moment's notice.

Training & Development
To maintain a high degree of interest in self-development, displaying this by making suggestions for realistic improvements.
Ensure structured induction procedures are in place and followed.
Try to anticipate potential problems and follow company guidelines to avoid them. Inevitably, guest's complaints will arise, therefore, when they do please follow company complaint procedure.

Personnel & Payroll
Ensure company rules & procedures are followed in accordance with the staff handbook.

Housekeeping/Maintenance
Ensure Administration area is clean and tidy and well maintained at all times.
Ensure the front of house areas are maintained and cleaned to the highest possible standards on a daily basis.
To be aware of all statutory regulations affecting safety and ensure that any safety hazard is rectified.

General:

Complete all administrative duties completely and as written within the time frame given.
Report for duty punctually wearing appropriate attire.
Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times, always remembering that you lead by example.
Establish and maintain a good rapport and working relationship with all the staff in Majilis Al Khaleeji and all other departments as well as suppliers.
Provide a courteous, professional, attentive and efficient service at all times with all Majilis Al Khaleeji departments and customers.
Attend and contribute to all staff briefings and other related activities.
Carry out any other responsibilities or duties as assigned.
Support new recruits through on the job training.

Health and Safety and Welfare:
To ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified.
Emergency procedures are rehearsed monthly and attendance records are kept; all emergency procedures need to be implemented and enforced to provide for security and safety of guest and employees.
Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises by fairly applying Majilis Al Khaleeji regulations, by strict adherence to existing laws, statutes and applicable ordinances, and by anticipating possible and probable hazards and conditions and wither correcting them or pre-planning a defense against them.
