The Housekeeping Department is responsible for planning, organizing and executing the activities of departments which control the flow of available guestrooms for sale in the hotel.The cleanliness of the entire hotel and much of a guest's overall impression of the hotel is related to Housekeeping and therefore the responsibility of all the staff involved.According to study conducted by Lieberman Research Group in 2004 the highest level of importance in selecting a hotel is cleanliness with a 95% ranking.
Job responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
  • Prepare and distribute the Morning and Evening work assignments for all the Room Attendant & Public area Attendants.
  • Conduct daily briefings with staff for Functions and events in the Hotel.
  • Perform daily checks of all outlets, Public Area, Toilets, Back of the House Areas for Cleanliness and maintenance and hygiene.
  • Cleaning & preparation of late departure rooms
  • Clean & preparation of rooms requiring service
  • Clean other areas as required by the Housekeeper
  • To be pleasant and courteous to guests and colleagues at all times
  • Report any occupied rooms that have not been used
  • Report guest comments or complaints
  • Answer guests requests and resolve guest problems
  • Check in lost property immediately
  • Dispose of soiled linen down the chute
  • Dispose of rubbish in the proper place
  • Carry out any other duties as required
  • Check Equipment, ensure regular service is carried out, Cleaning supply and Guest Amenities are stored correct.
  • Arrange and follow up special cleaning schedules for Outlets etc.
  • Report and follow up on maintenance orders, report all damages and losses to the Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Housekeeper.
  • Comply with Lost and found Policy of the Hotel.
  • To assist Guest in Public Area as and when required.
  • To hold regular trainings with Public Area Attendants.
  • To have a good knowledge of all the different types of Rooms, Hotel facilities, hours of Operation, Restaurants, Shops and Function Rooms.

To move into this position you shouldhave:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience as aHousekeeping Attendantin a five star hotel.
  • Must be able to speak and write in English
  • communication skills (written & verbal), good command of English
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be willing to work different shifts Morning/Evening/Night. In and outdoors
  • Customer focused, Courteous, friendly personality, good approach to teamwork and a good attention to detail.
