Job Description


An HVAC, Chiller, and Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining all refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and installations in good working condition by carrying out necessary repairs and preventive maintenance. Able tooperate, repair, maintain and provide technical attention to all AC and Refrigeration Systems of the hotel, walk in freezer, fridges, Ice makers, Air Handling Units, fan coil units, Chillers.
What will I be doing
As an HVAC, Chiller, and Refrigeration Technician, you are responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: - Reports to the A/C and Refrigeration Technician/Foreman regarding daily work progress and trouble report completion.
  • Attains all refrigeration and A/C trouble reports on daily basis. Guest room trouble is given priority
  • Works closely with A/C and Refrigeration Technician/Foreman and peers to carry out preventive maintenance and annual maintenance program
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in job, departmental procedures and instructions
  • Operate Maintain, Repairs and does necessary adjustment of the air conditioning and refrigeration equipment such as Chillers, AHUs, FCU's, Split A/C Units, Window A/C Units, Cold rooms. Coolers, Ice machines, Extract fans and all the HVAC related equipment
  • Coordinate with Fire Fighting contractors on scheduled maintenance and make sure Air -conditioning system responds as per Cause and Effect matrix
  • Ensures of sufficient stock of spare parts for the A/C and Refrigeration related equipment and thoroughly checks the purchase materials for their quality.
  • Executes energy saving measures and helps the department to reduce the energy cost
  • Carryout daily checks on Cooling Tower & its Makeup Water, Chillers, Primary & Secondary Pumps, AHU, FAHU, Water Treatment, and major Refrigeration equipment.
  • Ensure and all set operating parameters as desired for intended operation.
  • Familiarizes himself with total layout of the building and estate regarding safety aspects such as isolation points
  • Carries out all other tasks assigned to him by his supervisor
  • Performs preventive maintenance work, such as servicing of motors and air-conditioning and refrigerators as per the maintenance schedule and maintains service / history reports
  • Attends to repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment such as screw / centrifugal type chiller, cooling towers, make water system, walk in chillers, freezers, other commercial industrial refrigeration equipment, window units, split, Blower coil units, Air-handling units and fan coil units
  • Advises improvements to the present system in order to optimize the operating efficiency and economy of the said system
  • Assists supervisor to prepare spare parts lists for the refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Participates in the Hotel Energy Conservation Program.
  • Ensures that the plant room, workshop and related areas are kept in clean and tidy condition.
  • Do breakdown service in guest rooms, such as air-conditioners, mini bars.
  • Servicing and maintenance of public area air-conditioning.
  • Checks refrigerator and freezer temperature, calibrates temperature and pressure control.
  • Carries out occasional repair work as required, following specifications and handles any unexpected problems.
  • Prevents problems from occurring in the hotel's technical installations
  • Follows the preventive maintenance program.
  • Applies water hygiene procedures.
  • To assist in carrying out monthly inventory of operating equipment.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • To undertake Duties of the R/AC Technician as per the Engineer Duty Roster

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
  • Able to read Building, Air-conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical drawings
  • Able to fault find and repair air-conditioning, refrigeration and building control systems. Good electrical knowledge
  • Knowledge of BMS systems. - Experience of reciprocating Chillers and Air handling plant and cold rooms
  • Familiar with planned Preventive Maintenance and Safety programmes
  • Flexible and team player - able to work on own initiative
  • Good understanding of water treatment techniques and able to handle chemicals
  • Makes periodic inspection tours to check all refrigeration equipment functioning properly
  • Carries out guest room maintenance according to schedule programme
  • Works closely with electrician to carry out electrical work when required, including functions and parties
  • Daily refrigeration log sheet to be filled and temperature to be recorded
  • Works closely with peers to assist in their job when requested by supervisor
  • Keeps all necessary tools in good working condition, keep their working place neat and clean
  • Attains all departmental meetings and training classes

  • Minimum 5 years air-conditioning or refrigeration installation or maintenance experience in Industrial/Commercial Projects
  • Good all round practical trade skills inclusive fabrication, installation and maintenance
  • Preferable apprentice time service candidate

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
  • Hotels-Hospitals experience
