PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Global Cloud Services (GCS) is responsible for running SAP's backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art data centers and the technical platforms as integral part and foundation for all SAP Cloud solutions and services around the globe.
The Cloud Infrastructure Services unit provides these shared services for SAP's external Cloud Business and also for SAP's internal infrastructure such as development, training, or demo landscapes.
Within GCS and among other responsibility, the Infrastructure Build organization (DIB) is globally responsible to fulfill the demand for Infrastructure capacities in the various Data Centers and hand it over to the consumers of the Infrastructure and to the Infrastructure Run organization. The Infrastructure Build is set up in regional units.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The Infrastructure Product Build Manager is responsible for the build and decommissioning of a defined Infrastructure capacity (product) in a defined Data Center. An infrastructure product consists of servers, network, storage, back up and peripheral equipment. The product build is finished when all from HW procurement, physical installation in the Data Center, configuration of the Infrastructure and handover to consumer including acceptance is done. The role will lead multiple product builds or decommissioning in parallel. The responsibility includes
- all planning and validation of the build / decomm
- the coordination, the driving and tracking / reporting of the different build execution steps
- the successful handover to consumer in time and in quality.
The role will work closely together with Infrastructure experts from Data Center, Order Management, Server, Network, Storage and Back up teams who execute the work within dedicated work centers.
Additional tasks are:
- Report to Infrastructure Management on status
- Close collaboration with the other Infrastructure teams and the consumer / customer of the Infrastructure build product
- Contribute to planning and execution maturity / continuous improvements
- Work along the rules defined and the tools given by Infrastructure build governance
The role reports to the Head of Infrastructure build.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills
- Experience with the methods and tools of product build in IT or other industries
- Background of IT Infrastructure
- Strong consumer / customer orientation, high quality of work focus and result / deliverable oriented thinking
- Ability to work in a globally distributed organization and eagerness to work with people of other cultures
- Fluent Business English
- Bachelor's or Master's degree
Preferred skills
- Specific IT Infrastructure knowledge in 2 or more of Server, network, storage/back up
- Experience with reporting to upper line organization management
- Good communication skills
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 4 or more years of work experience that preferably include 2 year within IT Infrastructure or other comparable industries (e.g. manufacturing or construction)
- At min. 2 years of leading product builds in IT Infrastructure or other comparable industries (e.g. manufacturing or construction) or leading complex IT projects as responsible project manager
