Job Description/Major Duties (general job functions, responsibilities, day-to-day tasks & activities)
The Materials Coordinator will be responsible for the management, planning, supervising and coordinating of all procurement and material requirements for all project scopes from Request for Quotations to installation.

The Materials Coordinator responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Liaison with the various OXY project teams and the supply chain department to ensure material requirements related to projects and operational support activities are being achieved with maximum efficiency within the procurement and distribution cycles.
• In conjunction with the supply chain department, establish relationships with various company approved vendors with responsibility for expediting of materials and monitoring vendor delivery and quality performance. Propose improvements to the cycle as required to enhance performance.
• Planning, supervising, and coordinating all procurement and material requirements for all project scopes from the RFQ stage through to installation.
• Ensuring that all procurement activity is in compliance with Company business policies and procedures.
• Ensuring that procurement plans, status reports, equipment and material control schedules are developed and maintained within the office and the field.
• Ensuring that competency is achieved and maintained and any new development opportunities within the materials environment are realized.
• Provide support during bid evaluation and with any new business proposals.
• Review requisitions with a view to maximize the utilization of stock material where possible.
• Promote awareness and ensure that all procurement activities and materials are in compliance with Company HES policies and procedures
• Advise the Facilities management team on material deliveries concerns that would affect project goals.
• Facilitate timely and smooth workflow across the various project interfaces.
• Maintain, update and regularly publish OMSR’s for all ongoing projects to ensure that all FAC site construction staff are fully aware of project material status.
• Issue consolidated OMSR’s across multiple projects.
• Monitor daily material deliveries and ensure compliance with handling procedures (QA/QC, special storage requirements, etc.).
• Ensure OMSR and MTO reconciliations are carried out by Material Controllers and all discrepancies are resolved in line with Oxy procedures and schedules.
• Be the focal point for all Procurement, Expediting and Materials Management related issues at Site.
• Represent Oxy Materials Department during construction meetings with Contractors.

(Education required, background, experience, skills)
• College Diploma, preferred in engineering.
• Minimum of 9 years’ experience in materials management and control in oil & gas / petrochemical industry within a multi-discipline facilities project and operating environment.
• Strong self-motivated team player with good interpersonal and management skills.
• Excellent work coordination, organizational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to effectively interact with management, construction and engineering contractors, vendors and any other OXY departments to facilitate flow of information.
• Results focused with demonstrated ability to meet schedules.
• Good computer skills, including interpretation of project planning, cost and materials tracking software, Oracle is preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments with a focus on meeting deadlines.
• Proactive approach to resolving conflict.
• Good communication skills.
