The Center for Environment and Water in the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking an enthusiastic and skilled numerical ocean modeler to consolidate, develop, and expand our present expertise in the Hydrodynamic modelling. As part of an interdisciplinary cross-campus team, the modeler will use ROMS/POM, as well as available data, to characterize the transport and variability in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf. The modelling will potentially encompass dispersal (biota, oil, and sediment), biological productivity, biogeochemical transformation, and physical processes of critical importance to past, present and future states of these oceanic domains. This may require application of other relevant modelling systems. The modeler will also be involved in the development of operational applications for ROMS. This position will also require a broad understanding of physical oceanography and numerical ocean modeling. Global and basin-scale versions of the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model will be utilized extensively, so experience with HYCOM would be beneficial, but not essential. Job Responsibility
The successful candidate will be a team player who is comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team environment. They should be self-motivated and results-orientated, showing initiative whilst being well-organized, conscientious and working productively with a range of staff across CEW's sites. Candidates will also need good communication and presentation skills and a track-record in publishing research.

Applicants must have an earned a Doctoral degree in oceanography and/or numerical ocean modelling, candidates should have experience in modelling oceanic processes with POM/ROMS and modern analytical methods for analyzing ocean model output and datasets. Knowledge and experience with other modelling systems would be an advantage. They should also have strong analytical skills Strong computing skills (Windows, Unix, Fortran, and a scientific scripting language such as Matlab, IDL or Python), including numerical modeling, hydrodynamic systems and coding experience.
