DB Pensions Consultant / Associate Consultant - Risk Transfer (Can be based in any UK/I location) hybrid or fully remote working - flexible / part-time hours also considered
A fantastic opportunity to further your career within Mercer's Wealth team within Risk Transfer. This opprtunity would be suitable for either non actuarial DB consultants/ associates or an Actuary (part/qualified) with some experience of Risk transfer, looking to make the switch.
Mercer is looking for talented and ambitious pensions consultants/associate consultants who are keen to further their career, focused on consulting with clients. This is an opportunity to join the Risk Transfer team and lead on providing clients with advice on discontinuance and general risk transfer. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and project management skills, adaptability, business acumen and a desire to be in front of clients, all underpinned by the required consulting skills and experience.
What can you expect
Winding up pension schemes as part of the overall risk transfer process will be an increasingly important role as part of the run off of DB schemes and delivering service excellence in this area will be crucial to our overall delivery. Becoming an integral member of the Risk Transfer team, this role will give you the opportunity to work on a wide range of clients at various stages of overall journey including the lead in to a buy-in transaction and then the post transaction buyout and wind up journey. You will work on a portfolio of clients and will be involved in leading on those client relationships along with colleagues. You will need to be able to able to learn quickly, think on your feet, be naturally inquisitive and most importantly be committed to giving our clients an excellent experience. In return, you will have access to training, experience and full support from the wider Risk Transfer team.
This role would be suitable for someone who already has experience working with trustees and/or corporates on DB pensions within a consultancy role and has knowledge and experience of the risk transfer process including the buyout and winding up stages.

We will count on you to:

  • Working on a portfolio of clients and consulting on and project managing all aspects of the buyout and winding up journey, including providing support on the preparation and delivery of both day-to-day and strategic consulting advice

  • Preparation of project plans and setting and budgets will also be required

  • Project managing a portfolio of clients to help them achieve their buyout and winding up objectives and assisting with the co-ordination all the relevant teams and client stakeholders

What you need to have:

  • A high level understanding of the requirements of the buyout process and winding up pensions schemes including key considerations

  • Excellent communication and consulting skills and a proven track record of client exposure

  • A strong sense of team working

  • A willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable in a changing environment

  • Proven ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients

  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities, in order to prioritise and complete work and meet project deadlines

  • It would be desirable to have experience in using project management applications
