Job Description:
Senior Commercial Manager – Oil & Gas
The Senior Commercial Manager willmanage, as per their specialty, at least three (3) EPC megaprojects (minimum US$ 1 Billion each) or at least onemega project with value more than US$ 5 Billion.
  • Provides oversight on all commercial matters relating to the design, construction and supply contracts.
  • Manages and provides strategic advice on the procurement and budget control functions.
  • Analyzes the general terms and conditions of various contracts to highlight obligations, ambiguities, conflicts and deviations in party responsibilities, liabilities, scope of requirements and the like. Provides commercial/contractual advice on the resolution to problems encountered.
  • Provides direction and coordination with schedule and program personnel to review baseline programs, look-ahead programs, mitigation and cause and effect programs, interface programs and analysis of progress and performance indicators.
  • Participates in Division, Company, and Corporate strategic planning activities for specific projects (e.g., risk assessment, bid/no bid analysis, participation in business plan development, etc.).
  • Selects personnel, makes staffing assignments, supervises work produced to ensure consistent high quality performance.
  • Provides training and development for personnel assigned.
  • Manages support team to assure contracts are effectively managed during the course of the contract period and to ensure its close-out is in accordance with established procedures.
  • Manages the claims process and make recommendations for claims and other contractual matters to the senior management.
  • Attends progress review meetings, schedule and claims meetings and be responsible for commercial actions arising from the same.
  • Supports other contractual requirements as deemed necessary.
  • Responsible to provide senior-level guidance to assigned personnel and ensures proficiency and timeliness of all contract administration functions.
  • Mentors all assigned personnel and undertake annual reviews and appraisals.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (i.e. Mechanical,Electrical, Civil, Electronic, etc.) or other relevant legal or commercial from an accredited university.
  • Minimum twenty (20+) years of contract experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including minimum 5 years (preferred) in GCC.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the negotiation of prime contracts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability for managing and directing work involving complex situations.
