Job Description Summary
The Lead Engineer will be reporting to the Grid Solution Services (META) Tendering & Engineering Director. Will be in charge for the substations engineering activities in our region related to tendering (ITO) and projects execution (OTR) and will be responsible for supporting region Tendering, Sales and Project team as well as customer technical support.

.Within the Unit: UMD, Operations / Project Managers, Tendering team, Field Service Team & Sales Managers.
.Within the Region: Tendering & Engineering Director, Operations Director, management of entities and other functions such as Sourcing, Logistics & EHS
.Within all Product Line / supplying units

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Be the single point of contact for secondary Engineering and CW scope in our region
  • Be responsible for driving all engineering activities related to secondary and CW
  • Support Commercial teams in complex technical discussions with customer.
  • Travelling to any country in META, and Iraq mainly to take the lead of engineering activities
  • The Lead Engineer should be responsible for Secondary and CW engineering activities at tendering and support our team for substations engineering including below:
    • Study and understand customer RFQ and tender requirement
    • Preparation of pre-bid clarifications
    • Preparation of Division of Responsibility between all internal/external stake holders and customer.
    • Preparation of tender layouts and Single Line Diagram
    • Bill of material for all external material like earthing, cable ladders, LV control/power cables, HV connectors, etc.
    • Preparation of macro planning for overall project
    • Technical validation of external supplier offers and support sourcing team for supplier selection
    • Technical coordination with GE internal supplying units like GIS, AIS, FACTS, etc,
    • Technical validation of site works subcontractor offer
    • Validating the overall technical solution before client submission
    • Technical support in replying post bid clarifications
    • Technical meeting with customer, end-user and subcontractors
    • Site visits for data collection
  • The Lead Engineer should be responsible for overall engineering activities at project execution (OTR) stage based in our needs and including below:
    • Study and understand project scope and technical requirement
    • Preparation of Division of Responsibility between all internal & external stake holders
    • Support project manager in technical coordination and meetings with customer & all internal & external stake holders
    • Preparation of bill of material for all required material like earthing, cable ladders, LV control/power cables, HV connectors, etc.
    • Technical validation of external supplier offers and support sourcing team for supplier selection
    • Technical coordination with GE internal supplying units like GIS, AIS, FACTS, etc,
    • Technical validation of all primary and secondary engineering documents prepared by engineering & design subcontractor.
    • Technical coordination with customer to ensure timely approval of engineering documents as per project schedule
    • Technical validation of GE supplying units base and detailed design before client submission
    • Technical support in replying to customer comments on submitted design documents
    • Site visits
    • Technical support to field service and site team during site works
  • Comply withQuality Procedures, work instructions and Processes
  • Ensure continuous improvement mindset within the team
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions
  • Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions
  • Ensure safety work instructions are complied
  • Participate in the resolution of safety issues.
  • Initiate actions to improve health and safety where needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in related Engineering disciplines
  • Min. 10 years of experience in HV Substation Engineering and Design
  • Have an experience related to Gas Insulation Switchgears (GIS)
  • Good Knowledge of CAD based software for drawings preparation
  • Good Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, SEC and NG Standards
  • Can work on software based earthing design programs like CDEGS, ETAB, etc.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering would be a plus
  • Technical knowledge of GE GIS products is preferable
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
