Job Description

What you'll do
  • Strategy development: support in defining our strategy: what we want to do, and when, how and where we want to do it, including by
    • Conducting market/industry studies and continuously monitoring and analysing competitor business models and product portfolios in key markets
    • Developing analytical and conceptual frameworks to help leadership prioritise potential strategic initiatives and new sub-business/products
    • Identifying new/emerging use cases that Careem Pay should consider and developing the business case and commercial strategy for them
    • Identifying Careem's value proposition for existing and new cases, including product, user experience and commercial value proposition
    • Identifying areas where Careem Pay needs strategic partnerships or investments to meet licensing, tech, commercial or operational objectives
  • Strategy execution: implementation of key strategic projects (e.g., product launches, market launches, partnership implementation), including by
    • Working with POCs across legal, commercial, product, engineering, marketing, regulatory, compliance, and other functional areas to achieve milestones
    • Conducting required analyses including benchmarking, market assessments, user surveys, business plans, etc.
    • Ensuring project management and delivery against milestones
    • Developing progress updates for Careem Pay Board and other leadership groups
  • Corporate development: provide strategic support to our inorganic growth efforts spanning mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investment opportunities, including by
    • Supporting the sourcing of new fintech investment opportunities across multiple geographies, along the full investment process cycle from identification to closure
    • Conducting research and strategic analysis of potential targets, as and when needed, to inform due diligence and valuation
    • Working with M&A team to drive the investment process from identification to closure
    • Developing progress updates for Careem Pay Board and other leadership groups

What you'll need
  • Top-tier educational background and a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience within a leading fintech, bank or management consulting firm
  • Experience within strategy or investment is required for this role. Candidates that possess both of these skill sets would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of payments business models, value chain, players and industry trends is preferred but not essential
  • Understanding of tech infrastructure and networks/partnerships critical for payments players
  • Strong track-record of problem-solving, including structuring problems, performing detailed analysis, and developing & implementing recommendations
  • Detail-oriented and organised with a strong talent for project management
  • Willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues in other Careem Pay and Careem teams (e.g., including product, finance, marketing, corp dev, markets) from inception to delivery of projects
  • Start-up mindset:
    • Laser focused on growth, speed and results on a daily basis
    • Willing to get hands dirty -- this role involved both strategy and implementation
    • Action-oriented
    • Willing to take risks and make quick, informed decisions
  • Self-starter with high level of ownership and limited need for oversight and support
