As a key member of Careem Pay's Strategy and Strategic Partnerships team, you will create strategic growth for the business through:
Key responsibilities:
  • Strategy development: support in defining our strategy: what we want to do, and when, how and where we want to do it, including by
    • Conducting market/industry studies and continuously monitoring and analysing competitor business models and product portfolios in key markets
    • Developing analytical and conceptual frameworks to help leadership prioritise potential strategic initiatives and new sub-business/products
    • Identifying new/emerging use cases that Careem Pay should consider and developing the business case and commercial strategy for them
    • Identify areas where Careem Pay needs strategic partnerships or investments to meet licensing, tech, commercial or operational objectives
    • Synthesising the above and developing recommendations
  • Execution: implementation of key strategic projects, including by
    • Running end-to-end partnership execution and managing discussions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure momentum
    • Working with POCs across commercial, product, engineering, marketing, legal, compliance, and other functional areas to achieve milestones
    • Ensuring project management and delivery against milestones
    • Developing progress updates for Careem Pay Board and other leadership groups

About you:
  • Top-tier educational background
  • 2-5 years of professional experience, working across strategy, product or business development within a leading fintech, payments infrastructure provider, bank and/or management consulting firm
  • Knowledge of fintech (or at least payments) business models, value chain, players and industry trends
  • Understanding of tech infrastructure and networks / partnerships critical for payments players
  • Strong track-record of problem-solving, including structuring problems, performing detailed analysis, and developing & implementing recommendations
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strong talent for project management
  • Willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues in other Careem Pay and Careem teams (e.g., including product, finance, business units, marketing, corp dev, markets) from inception to delivery of projects
  • Start-up mindset:
    • Laser focused on growth, speed and results on a daily basis
    • Willing to get hands dirty -- this role involved both strategy and implementation

    • Willing to take risks and make quick, informed decisions
  • Self-starter with high level of ownership and limited need for oversight and support
